On January 14, 1865, the Legislature of Territorial Washington incorporated the Town of Seattle. War work again brought local prosperity during World War II, centered on the production of Boeing aircraft. In the 1980s Microsoft’s 1979 move from Albuquerque, New Mexico, to nearby Bellevue, Washington brought prosperity to the area.
